Community Engagement
Are you launching your own
Community Initiative or Project?
Harness the power of our sangha to support your community-building initiative.
Types of community initiatives we support...
We support community engagement initiatives that align with our re-worlding themes. Please be welcome to explore how we define "community engagement", our themes, and our Funding & Voting Eligibility Criteria and Process below.
Community Engagement Initiatives
Your Community Project or Initiative must align in some way with our Community Engagement model. For example, you may be collecting donations for a cause, you may be starting a grassroots initiative, or launching a movement that would bring change in your community.
Learn more about our Community Engagement model and how to engage in your community here. Please be welcome to note that we DO NOT support political causes, any type of for-profit or social venture, or events/panels, etc.
Re-worlding theme
By now, you may know that our support for community engagement runs deeper than changing communities. To us, moving, building, and shaping communities is an invitation to move the world at large; we create change when communities come together to re-world. Thus, all community projects must align with our Re-Worlding Themes, as we expect to see re-worlding change come out of your initiative.
Projects that align with more than one of our themes tend to be more successful. Learn more about our Re-Worlding themes and how we use them to measure impact here.
Funding Eligibility Criteria & Process
Projects can have national or international scope with budgets up to 5K CAD.

Projects will be accepted by individuals who have participated in at least ONE of our Engaged Mindfulness, Equitable Wealth, Community Engagement practices within 1 month of the submitted application date.
The Being Human Foundation (BHF) is responsible for initial screening of submissions to ensure alignment with Community Engagement model, Re-Worlding Theme, and general guidelines.
If project aligns with all criteria, BHF will list the project on the Vote page and send communication to our sangha inviting individuals to vote if they would like to support. Voting period is 76hours.
If project receives support, BHF will aim to release funds within one week. Therefore, total time to potentially receive funding, if project is successful, is 76hours + one week.
BHF will also oversee the project implementation with the project leader through monthly meetings and offering other as-needed support.
Once the project is complete, BHF will work with the project leader to collect data about the unmet needs being met, the community served, and other outcomes.
Once outcomes are collected, BHF will host a RECAP event with the Project Leader so voters/our sangha has the opportunity to learn about its success, impact, and any future directions of the project.
