our impact philosophy
re-worlding
Re-worlding to us is about changing communities, and then bringing these changed communities together. We cannot re-world at once, we have to re-world within communities. Then, changed communities come together to form a re-worlded world.
re-worlding,
systems change, & communities
Re-worlding is a result of systems change. One of the defining features of systems is that they self-organize. We invite this “self-organization” by:
Inviting our sangha to practice being in and with community through Engaged Mindfulness practices, Equitable Wealth tools and resources, and Community Engagement Workshops.
Inviting our sangha to directly engage in community through their own projects, with the support of our practices, resources, tools, and workshops.
Deploying capital in a decentralized, decolonized manner, where community members identify unmet needs in communities, launch their own community initiatives to meet these unmet needs, and vote together on how to deploy capital amongst these community projects/needs.
self-organizing & communities
By mobilizing community members, disrupting the flow of capital, empowering and equipping community members with resources, know-how, and capital, we create conditions for self-organizing IN and OF communities.
impact
measurement
Taken together, we invite the system, or community to re-organize by encouraging long-term community engagement. We primarily care about the number of community initiatives we launch, but also the relationship between engaged mindfulness and community engagement.
Our inputs
hours of Engaged Mindfulness practices offered
number of Equitable Wealth tools and resources offered
hours of Community-Building education, workshops, and programming
dollars of community-driven donations collected
number of volunteer initiatives led by The Being Human Foundation
Our outputs
number of community projects launched by our sangha
number of community projects launched by our sangha across various Re-Worlding themes
number of community projects launched by our sangha across geographies
number of individuals in our sangha that launch community projects
number of individuals in our sangha that participate in voting
number of individuals in our sangha who regularly engage in community
average donation per practice, tool, or workshop
total pooled donation dollars across funded projects
# of cumulative volunteer hours from our sangha participating in our in-house initiatives
Our methods
data collection is made easy through our backend tools that collect hours of practices, practice attendance, engagement with our offerings, votes (via voting form), and donations that are both collected and redistributed into community
we also issue surveys to our sangha members to better understand their community engagement activities outside of The Being Human Foundation offerings and volunteer initiatives, and their connection to community in particular in relation to their commitment to Engaged Mindfulness practices
Our impact
Quantitative
number of projects launched that are re-launched or scaled into larger projects beyond funding from our sangha, out of total projects launched
number of individuals in our sangha who launch more than one community initiative
breadth of Re-Worlding Themes that community projects touch
reach of served communities
Qualitative
community wellbeing in served communities through community projects
unmet needs met
community impact outcomes as defined by project leaders
self-organization within the community (ex. are other community members coming together, is capital flow altered, are new players participating in the community, are same players participating in the community in different ways, etc.)
re-worlding
themes
Our Re-Worlding Themes are a very important part of our impact measurement; these are the impact areas we work within. We expect that all of our projects, including those that come through our Re-Worlding Community Fund, initiatives, and narrative shift projects, aligned within our Re-Worlding Themes.
Our five Re-Worlding Themes are overlapping at the root of change, so when we re-world in one of these themes, we re-world in others.

Freedom To Be
